MDC20: Quiz Fun Pt 2

Quiz Fun Pt 2

Recorded on Christmas night of 2016, while recovering from a "fun" wave of illness.

To get ourselves back in a silly mood, ReAnna pulled out another quiz. This time it's "21 Funny Questions For Couples To Shake Off A Bad Day." You'll learn why Adam would pick Ryan Gosling or Jake Gyllenhaal to play him in a movie. Plus what ReAnna's favorite thing Adam does in bed. (Hint: it's not what you'd think.) Later we chat about our favorite gifts and how almost depressingly practical we are.
Plus the return of our WTF Moments featuring a pair of stories about our 4 year old monster.

MDC 19: Cold, Colds, and Christmas

Cold, Colds, and Christmas

It's getting chilly outside, which means cold and flu season is on it's way. This week we talk about the things we've picked up along our 4 child adventure that have helped keep our household sickness situation as "in check" as we can manage. Plus it's getting close to the holidays, and we have a handy tip for getting your gift ideas together. All this and ReAnna's terrible song lyrics.

MDC 18: Holiday Prep 2- Traveling

Holiday Prep 2- Traveling

This week we continue our theme of preparing for the holiday season with a focus on traveling for the holidays. We chaotically improvise a game of "What's in Your Diaper Bag?" Then we get into our recommendations for our favorite travel tools and ideas. Once again, preparation is key.

These are our recommendations for what we pack and what we use for trips. These are not mandatory items. We just like this assortment of things. You make your personal decisions about what suits you and your budget.

MDC 17: Holiday Prep Pt 1

Preparing For the Holidays pt 1

The holiday season is upon us. Halloween has passed, and now it is time to get ready for Thanksgiving in the USA. If you have kids, holidays are a very stressful time. If you travel for the holidays you can multiply that stress level by about 2 million. So this week we share our tips for minimizing the headache of the holiday season.

MDC 15: Quiz Time

Quiz Time

This week we decided it would be fun to do one of those old school Myspace style quizzes. We figured, what better way for you, the listener, to pick our brains, than to answer a bunch of random questions.

Fun With the Boys: MDC 14

Fun With The Boys

This week is just a quick show mostly explaining where we've been the past few weeks. Long story short, we've been working. School is back and we've both been working overtime, enough said. Later on the older boys join us for a game of "why aren't you in bed?" This week's WTF Moment explains why we're considering a lawsuit against Häagen-Dazs. Ahh the joys of parenting.

Screening Screen Time: MDC 13

Screening Screen Time

How much screen time should kids have? When should you give your kids their own smart devices? Should kids have smart devices at all? We tackle all these ideas this week. Plus fun stories from our childhood. In our WTF Moments this week we've got our boys "just being boys."

*This article was ironically discovered AFTER recording this episode*

Recent research has determined that the ideal minimum age for giving kids a smart phone is between 12-14 years old. Although every child is different and may be able to handle the responsibility at different ages, the consensus is "the older the better."

We cover spanking, chores, allowance, and the value of teaching hard work. Plus Adam's hiccups, and ReAnna gets thrown under the bus in the WTF Moment.

Deja-Vu All Over Again- MDC 11

Deja-Vu All Over Again

Are we crazy, or just stupid? As a result of some family business, we are once again driving back to Texas over the 4th of July weekend. Of course we can't just stay on subject like that. We also go on about road trips and the reason why women seem to blank out the excruciating pain of childbirth. (Doctors are actually MIB.) Later on we talk poop in this week's "Moment in Potty Training."
All of this while making fun of ReAnna's jokes, and general lack of coordination. So all in all, it's business as usual on "Mom and Dad Cuss."

MDC 9: On the Road Again

On the Road Again

It's vacation time! Time for us to pack our bags and drive back to Texas. This week we talk about how we plan out our vacation. From ReAnna's obsession with lists to the general problem with driving 18 hours with 4 small boys, vacations are always a case of hoping the fun outweighs the stress.

MDC 8: It Takes a Village

It Takes a Village

You know the old saying, "it takes a village to raise a child?" We would like to formally call shenanigans on that proverb. More importantly anybody who makes it a point to push that agenda on other moms needs to be smacked upside the head with a diaper bag.
We have 4 boys, and although there are times that we may have needed help with things, we have always managed to do it on our own. We are not especially social people and do not have a big group of friends that can help us out on the parenting front. Besides that, we don't want to push off the responsibility of raising our kids on other people.

MDC 7: Made From Scratch

Made From Scratch

This week we started thinking about our new house, and why it is we moved in the first place. Long story short, it was a good financial decision.
This week we talk about our financial journey, from flipping a single guy lifestyle into married with 4 children. Then talk about building a maintaining a household budget for a family of 6. We even share our secrets for keeping our food budget tight.

MDC 6: Teaching Tolerance

Teaching Tolerance

We are back from our "moving hiatus" and this week we jump back in with an incident that occurred while we got settled into our new home. Long story short, our oldest son called ReAnna "fat." This lead to the idea of how to teach tolerance to our boys. We go from the initial issue of fat shaming and teaching respect to generally being accepting of others.
We come from very different backgrounds but both have grown to be very inclusive in our friendships. We also have quite a varied family makeup including people of all sizes, races, sexualities, religions, and political views. All this considered, it is somewhat surprising to find that any of our boys would show that sort of behavior, especially towards their mother. We aren't 100% on how to approach this all yet, but it is definitely a lesson that needs to be handled appropriately.

MDC 5: Family Entertainment

Family Entertainment

This week it's all about our tastes in music, movies, and TV, and how we expose our boys to all of it.
Somehow we just can't seem to go a single week without mentioning Dino Trux.
We both agree, children's TV just isn't what it used to be.
We discuss swearing in front of our boys vs swearing in front of our parents.
We talk about getting emotionally invested in the outcome of a tv show or movie.

MDC4: Growing "Pains"

Growing "Pains"

This week we decided to dig a bit deeper into some of the most difficult times we've had as parents: when our children were first born.
Each one of our sons' births came with a different set of issues. Whether it were a simple case of eczema, a heart arrhythmia, or a week confined to a box in the NICU, our boys have gone through more than a fair share of turbulence. But through all of it we have managed to push through, and have some great little guys to show for it.

Spring Broke

It's spring break again! Yea..... Didn't it seem like spring break was a lot more fun when you were a kid? As a parent it's just another headache to work around.
This week we talk about the "fun" we had for spring break including: changing routines, a car in the shop, EVERYBODY getting sick, and newly acquired scars.
